Shrimp Mould

Cool and tasty shrimp mould recipe; shrimp served with grated onions, shrimp or crab meat, garlic powder, Knox gelatine and cream cheese.

Note:(Crab-meat can be substituted for shrimp meat in this recipe. Besides, it can be used as an entree or as hors d’oeuvres and a small mold per person may be served with a salad.)

Shrimp Mould Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups shrimp meat or crab meat
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 small onion grated
  • 1 envelope Knox gelatine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 6 stuffed olives, sliced
  • 1pkg. cream cheese

How to make Shrimp Mould:

Combine gelatine and cold water in a bowl. Stir for a couple minutes and then add boiling water and stir until dissolved. Then in another bowl soften cream cheese and using a beater combine cream cheese and gelatine mixture until smooth. Then stir in salt, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, grated onion, lime juice and shrimp meat. Turn into a bowl or mould (or moulds) and chill until firm. Garnish with slices of stuffed olives.

Learn how to cook Stuffed Cucumbers with cooked ham, hard-boiled eggs, onions, English mustard,mayonnaise and a dash of hot pepper or Tabasco sauce. Try the recipe…and post you own variation.

Stuffed Cucumber Recipe Ingredients:

  • 2 cucumbers (6-8 inches long)
  • ¼ Ib. cooked ham, chopped
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon onion, grated
  • 1 teaspoon English mustard
  • 1 dash hot pepper or tabasco sauce
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon salt

How to make Stuffed Cucumber:

Peel cucumbers and cut off ½ inch of the end (one end only) of each cucumber. Remove seeds and centre with spoon and pour in ½ teaspoon salt in each cucumber, rubbing the insides well. Allow to stand for 15 minutes and then dry with paper towel. In mixing bowl combine ham, eggs, onions, hot pepper sauce, mustard and half of the mayonnaise.

If mixture is too dry, add a little mayonnaise. However, mixture should be able to hold a shape in a spoon. Stuff cucumbers tightly, wrap in aluminum foil and chill for 2-3 hours. Slice diagonally on a slant about half an inch thick and serve immediately.

oyster cocktail

Oyster Cocktail – very popular Hors D’oeuvre recipe in Trinidad and Tobago. Give a try and tell us what you think in the comments.

Oyster Cocktail Recipe Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh oysters
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • ¼ teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon grated onion
  • ½ teaspoon minced sweet peppers

How to make Oyster Cocktail:

Wash oysters in cold water to which 1 teaspoon lemon juice has been added. Drain well for a few minutes. Then in a bowl combine ketchup, pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, grated onion and sweet peppers. Add oysters and allow to marinate for a few minutes before serving. Chill before
serving.
