Sour Cream Squares
Sour Cream Square Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts

How to Make Sour Cream Square:

  1. Combine sour cream and baking soda in bowl and set aside to double in volume. In the meantime, prepare 8″ squares cake pan by greasing and flouring. Then heat oven to 350F. In mixing bowl cream butter and sugar thoroughly.

  2. Add beaten eggs and vanilla and beat well, Sift together dry ingredients and alternately add sour cream and dry ingredients to mixture. Spread half mixture in prepared pans.
  3. Sprinkle with half mixture of cinnamon, brown sugar and nuts. Add remaining mixture , then sprinkle with remainder of topping. Bake at 350F for about 45 minutes. Serve warm.
