Sorrels are only in season for a short time during Christmas. Once they appear on the food-stands in the market, fresh in bags, snatch them up while you can. Last year my mom dried some, and she was serving Sorrel Juice all during the year.
Ingredients:
- sugar to taste
- 6 cups of boiling water
- 4 cups of sorrel petals
- 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
- 2 tablespoon of rum (optional)
Method: |
First wash the sorrel and put it in a jar. Add the grated ginger. Pour in the boiling water and allow to stand for 2 days.
Finally, strain and add the sugar. You may Add the rum if desired. Bottle. Pour drink over crushed ice. Makes about 2 jars (375 ml) depending on how concentrated. |
